Age Spots – recommendations

Age spots on skin is a common skin problem. It is  basically caused due to overexposure of sun. The age spots are basically brown in color  and appear on your face, hands, arms and feet the areas which are over exposed to the sun. A pigment in our skin known as melanin protects our skin from sun damage as it absorbs sunlight and protects skin from dangerous Ultraviolet rays and  the surface layer of the skin(epidermis)  has  cells known as melanocytes , when sun rays damages these cells , it results in age spots and wrinkles.

There are some people, who have less melanin pigment , so their skin does not do a good job in protecting  them from the UV rays. Whenever the sun rays attack people who have less melanin pigment or light skinned people, their body is unable to react properly. As a result it can cause brown spots and age spots on their skin.

Tanning is not healthy for your skin as it totally damages skin which eventually leads  to age spots. As a result of tanning , your skin becomes very sensitive. When you get old the skin becomes loose and more susceptible to damages,  in this case consulting a doctor is the  best option. You should always take skin tanning and spots occurrence  seriously whenever you observe color changes or spots on your skin do not take it easily because they may cause skin cancer. Always take good care of your skin and consult a good dermatologist for skin relating problems.

Recommendation

  • If you want to Prevent your skin from UV rays you require avoiding unnecessary  sun exposure ,as it has been observed that mostly sun damage occurs while we are driving. Window glass of the cars protects us from UVB but none from UVA, UVA is basically the light that is responsible for age spots and skin damage. So one should always have a UVA protecting sheet on car windows. It will help a lot  in  preventing  sun damage which causes age spots and  brown spots.
  • Try to use sunscreen everyday, with SPF 15 , Sun Protection Factor (SPF) is the   strength of a sunscreen. Higher number of SPF gives longer protection.
  • In summers try to protect your skin from dehydration by drinking plenty of water it will help your  skin to glow and look beautiful and fresh. Avoid exposing yourself to the sun between 10am -3pm as the strength of UV rays is sturdy at that time.
