Age Spots | How To Protect Your Children

Age spots, also known as liver spots are those dark spots that takes place on skin One’s age doesn’t really influence the chances of a person to have age spots. Such spots occur when the skin produces way too much melanin. Melanin is what gives one his or her skin color and this protects the skin from the harmful rays of the sun. But of course you also want to protect your children from age spots or in other words, freckles.

Age spots could be brought about by many different reasons. Heredity is a factor. If age spots runs in the family, then you are susceptible. Age spots are commonly inherent with people with white skin. Age spots can also be due to one’s way of life.

Regarding age spots on children, it could be hard to deal with because children loves playing under the sun. One thing that can be done about this is letting the children amuse themselves inside or an area where it is shaded from the sun.

Kids are not yet worried of their skin. Using an umbrella is recommended for your kids to protect them from the harmful rays of the sun.

However, if your child doesn’t want to do all of that, then using a sunscreen or sunblock might work. Before applying a sunscreen, take a look at it’s sun protection factor first. High SPF is better.

Your child’s diet may also influence skin pigmentation. So give your child healthy foods and drinks and make them abstain from eating junk foods.   Fruits and vegetables are ideal for someone who wants to have healthy skin.

If the age spot problem is already there, then bring your child to a dermatologist. Consulting a dermatologist is important if your child already has age spots. If you want, you may ask the dermatologist to take care of your child’s dark spots. {You may ask the dermatologist to recommend a medication for your child.} There are many treatments available for this age spots. It could be creams, lotions and some types of surgery.

Taking the advice in the earlier part of the discussion may prevent age spots in children. Treating this is more difficult than preventing it.
